Book Reviews

This book was so good. It is about a group of six 16-18 year-old criminals who need to break into the Ice Court, a prison no one has successfully broken into before. They are a rag-tag crew including a 17 year-old crime boss, an acrobat turned information agent, a 17 year-old with heart powers and a love for waffles, a sharpshooter with a gambling addiction, a rich guy’s disgraced son who plays the flute, and an imprisoned former witch hunter.

I loved this book because the author did an amazing job of making the plot interesting and made me love the characters. I recommend this for anyone who doesn’t mind a little violence.

This is literally one of the best books I’ve ever read. The plot pacing differs greatly from many other books, which adds an interesting quality to it. The majority of the characters are extremely unlikeable, but I somehow still took sides in arguments and had favorites throughout—especially Amy, which is concerning that I liked her. I have forced many of my friends to read this since finishing it.

The entirety of this book is so good. I’ve read it so many times and it never gets old, but the second book is just as good. This book is about six teens who are tasked to complete an impossible heist for a lot of money, and there are so many plot twists that keep you hooked the whole time. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and heists, and is okay with reading about murder and other violence.

Arguably one of the best books I’ve read, nostalgia aside. It follows an abuse victim trying to flee her persecutor. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good horror story.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is about a girl who makes a deal with the gods that come up after dark. She can stay alive forever, but no one remembers who she is once she is out of their sight. I loved this book because the fantasy was written in a more realistic fashion which is interesting to me, and the plot, characters, and setting were really well developed.

Normal People is such a captivating story. It’s a sort-of romance about two people whose lives are intertwined. I loved the tempo of this book. There weren’t any dull moments, but it also didn’t move too fast. Initially, I was thrown off because Sally Rooney doesn’t use any quotation marks. Yet, after reading the first chapter, I found it actually made the story flow more smoothly. By the end, I hardly noticed it. I’d recommend Normal People to anyone looking for a book they can’t put down.
